Cute cupcakes!

Cute cupcake decoration ideas.

There are many, many occasions when a parent has to make cupcakes for school. It was my turn today, for our little daughters 2nd birthday!! The design turned out so sweet, I thought it worth sharing.

Here's how it was done:

1. I used a basic fairy cake (cupcake) recipe from Nigela Lawson's 'Domestic Goddess'.  See: http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/fairy-cakes-4664
2. Made the butter cream icing from the directions on the back of the Domino icing sugar box.  See: http://www.dominosugar.com/recipe/buttercream-frosting-7292
3. I then spooned some of the icing into separate small bowls to add food coloring.

4. I then spooned the different colored icings into plastic sandwich bags and cut a very small hole in the corner to push it through for piping.

Voila!
Bright and adorable cupcakes anyone would love.
Bon Appetite!

Update: It's that time of year again.  Pagie is now 3!  And it's our turn to bring in cupcakes for school.  We used the same recipe again, and created an even easier decorating technique that involves no piping, yet still packs a big visual punch.  The kids loved these ones!  Lather on some pink icing (made the same as above).  Buy a bag of multi-colored mini marshmallows, and stick them on.  Easy!
